Shoreline
Preservation Project
St. John's
Lutheran Church has launched a shoreline preservation
project which will restore the Biggerstaff Christian
Retreat Center to its original size. Rip-wrap will
be used in areas subject to erosion from wave action,
and more natural approaches will be taken is the more
sheltered areas.
The estimated
cost of the restoration is $70,000 and there are
opportunities to purchase engraved granite markers and
benches which can be engraved to commemorate special
people and events.
The 5 inch by 10
inch polished granite stones may be engraved with up to
three lines of characters 3/4" in height. Each
line will hold up to 15 spaces. These are
available for $100.00.
The benches are
all four feet long, with a sixteen inch seat which is
four inches thick.
There are three different styles of supports available,
with the prices ranging from $600.00 to $750.00.
The engraving opportunities vary, depending on the
support system selected.
A shoreline
Preservation Project order form is available as a PDF
document which you may print and mail to the address
indicated on the form. You may also contact the
caretaker if you have questions or if you would like to
make arrangements to visit the Center.
